What are the similarities between stain and dye?

Posted August 15, 2024

Answer

Both stains and dyes are used to add color to biological specimens to make specific structures more visible under a microscope. Another similarity is they bind to particular cellular components or tissues, allowing researchers to differentiate between different parts of a sample. They also are both used in the same applications such as histology, diagnostics, and cytology.
