What are the similarities between cyclins and cyclin dependent kinases?

Posted June 9, 2023

Answer

There are various similarities between cyclins and cyclin dependent kinases. One similarity is that they are both proteins composed of amino acids. Another similarity is that both are components of the maturation promoting factor. Additionally, cyclins and CDKS form an activated heterodimer. When joined together, the cyclin-CDK complexes phosphorylate target proteins involved in cell cycle regulation; the two molecules work together to assist in the process.
