What are the examples of adsorption?

Misty windows are an example of adsorption where water molecules adhere to a glass window. When a water molecule bounces against a window, a minor electric attraction occurs that causes the molecule to stick to the window temporarily. This process occurs due to the moisture in the air. Droplets eventually form until they become heavy enough that the force of gravity pulls them down towards the bottom of a window. Another example is a water filter, in which the contaminants (adsorbate) separate from a volume of water and become attached to carbon (adsorbent). The activated carbon adsorbs the contaminants, capturing and effectively removing impurities such as bacteria, dissolved chemicals, and particles. Paint is another example, as adsorption allows liquid paint to adhere to surfaces such as wood, plastic, or metal and stay in place.
