There are three types of chemical fixatives that are commonly used for microscopy:
- Cross-linking fixatives: Formaldehyde, Glutaraldehyde, Osmium Tetroxide, Acrolein
- Coagulants: Ethanol (EtOH), Methanol (MeOH)
- Acids: Acetic acid, Picric acid
