Dual luciferase assays have several advantages compared to the classic approaches. One of the biggest advantages is that results are more accurate using dual luciferase assays. The activity of a given promoter can be determined rapidly with higher accuracy and because samples don’t need to be split, it helps to save time as well as plates. Another advantage of dual luciferase assays is that they make it possible to study even low-level expression/ regulation, expression in cells that transfect poorly, and weak promoters.
