Is FITC hydrophobic?

FITC is insoluble in water. It is generally supplied as a lyophilized solid and must be resuspended in an organic solvent, such as ethanol, DMSO (Dimethyl sulfoxide), or DMF (Dimethylformamide), before labeling proteins or any other amine-containing biomolecule.
