Is energy required for diffusion and osmosis to occur?

Both diffusion and osmosis are passive processes that don’t require energy because they involve the movement of substances from areas of high concentration to areas of low concentration, following the natural concentration gradient. This movement occurs due to the spontaneous motion of molecules, driven by their inherent energy. It is important to note that active transport does require energy because it moves substances from areas of low concentration to areas of high concentration, going against the concentration gradient; this energy is provided by ATP.
