Is DNA methylation involved in DNA repair?

Answer
Yes, DNA methylation is involved in DNA repair.
DNA damage is caused by various exogenous and endogenous stresses such as chemicals, UV radiation, mechanical stress, DNA replication errors, reactive oxygen species and spontaneous reactions. Several epigenetic modulators are involved in the process of DNA repair. DNA methylation is thought to be more stable than the other epigenetic marks and may contribute to more sustained changes in gene expression.
