How does a promoter affect DNA?

Answer
A promoter refers to a specific sequence in DNA that indicates where transcription will begin. Enzymes such as RNA polymerase and other transcription factors and relevant proteins bind to the DNA at the promoter region to initiate transcription of that gene. This transcription results in the production of RNA molecules such as mRNA.
