Answer
The cell membrane can be labeled using Lipophilic Tracers, Fluorescently Labeled Lectins, and Fluorescent Probes.
- Lipophilic Tracers used to label the cell membrane include dialkylcarbocyanines DiO, DiI, DiA, DiD, DiR and DiS.
- Fluorescent Wheat Germ agglutinin (WGA) is a Fluorescently Labeled Lectin used extensively to label the cell membrane.
- Fluorescent probes of FM4-64, LRB-PE, DiIC12, DiIC18, DiD, BD-SM and Laurdan are most widely used to label cell membrane.
