How are polyclonal antibodies created?
Posted April 17, 2024
Answer
Polyclonal antibodies are generated by injecting an animal, such as a goat or a rabbit, with a specific antigen. This stimulates the animal’s immune system into producing a range of antibodies against different epitopes on the antigen. These newly produced antibodies are harvested from the animal's serum and purified. After purification, antibodies can now be used.
