Can sensory neurons regenerate after injury or damage?

Answer
Sensory neurons have a limited ability to regenerate after injury or damage. The extent to which they are able to regenerate can be affected by various factors particularly severity of the injury and formation of scar tissue. Regeneration of neurons in the central nervous system is more challenging and often leads to severely limited recovery of neuronal function.
