Answer
Antifade reagents can be used in histochemistry and infrared imaging in addition to its use in fluorescence microscopy. For IHC or light microscopy applications, a colorless mounting medium should be used. For IF applications, a medium that protects the fluorescent signal with antifade properties should be used. Antifade reagents can also be used to improve the detailedness of microscopy images and enable some microscopy applications. This makes them useful because of their different uses in imaging and biology.
