Answer
PG-cholesterylamine (Cat# 36700) is an excellent fluorescent probe for monitoring cholesterol efflux. It is a derivative of N-alkyl-3β-cholesterylamine labeled with the fluorescein derivative, Pennsylvania Green (PG) (Ex/Em = 492/519 nm).
Compared to traditional radioisotope-based assays, PG-cholesterylamine provides similar results in the presence of known cholesterol efflux modulators, such as cyclic AMP, and different cholesterol acceptors. It offers a safer, more sensitive and reproducible alternative to radioactive cholesterol efflux assays.
