Answer
Cell proliferation is the process that results in an increase of the number of cells, which is defined by the balance between cell divisions and cell loss through cell death or differentiation. Cell growth is a synonym in biology when it is involved with cell division. However, sometimes cell growth can also refer to the enlargement of cell volume, which takes place in the absence of cell division and without increasement of cell numbers.
