What is the cloud point in chemistry?

Posted July 16, 2018

Answer

The cloud point is the temperature at which a nonionic surfactant starts to phase-separate. The mixture becomes cloudy as two phases begin to appear from the separation. The separation is a characteristic of non-ionic surfactants containing polyoxyethylene chains, which become cloudy at some point when the temperature is raised.
