Answer
Oxidative stress is the strain caused by overproduction of reactive oxygen species (ROS), which are produced as by-products during oxidative phosphorylation. Oxidative stress can result in cell and tissue damage. As a result, it is linked to aging and diseases such are atherosclerosis and pulmonary fibrosis.
