What does Cytochalasin D do?

Answer
Cytochalasin D is a cell-permeable inhibitor of actin polymerization. Because phagocytosis is an endocytic event requiring actin polymerization cytochalasin D can be used as an inhibitor in phagocytosis assays such as our Cell Meter™ Fluorimetric Phagocytosis Assay Kit
Additionally, this disruption of actin filaments by cytochalasin D leads to the activation of p53.
