Answer
Prokaryotes and eukaryotes are two distinctly different types of cells with a few features that are common to both.
Features common to prokaryotes and eukaryotes:
- Proteins, carbohydrates, lipids and nucleic acids are the major bio molecules
- Enclosed within a plasma membrane filled with cytoplasm
- Inner and outer side of the cell are separated by a lipid bilayer or plasma layer
- DNA is the common genetic material, with similar mechanisms of replication, translation, and transcription
- Ribosomes are involved in protein synthesis
- Use energy released by the hydrolysis of ATP to carry out certain cellular processes
- Carry out basic life processes such as reproduction, photosynthesis, and flow of nutrients in and out of cellules
- Supported by a cytoskeleton within the cell
