What do I need to perform whole genome sequencing?

Answer
As whole genome sequencing (WGS) starts with DNA, you would first need to extract DNA from a cell or tissue sample. Samples may be obtained from bone marrow, saliva, epithelial cells, hair with hair follicle, plant leaves, and seeds and other DNA-containing cells. Because these biological samples contain a full copy of DNA, as little as 100 ng of DNA provides sufficient genetic material for performing whole genome sequencing.
You will also need a library preparation kit and adapters to prepare libraries. Adapters typically come with barcodes or indexes that help to identify the sample or specific molecules in the sample.
