Answer
Proteins play a significantly important role in many biological processes. They are very versatile and have many functions in the body.
- Enzymes: Catalyze biochemical reactions.
- Transport proteins: Carry substances in the blood or lymph throughout the body.
- Structural proteins: Construct different structures, like the cytoskeleton.
- Hormones: Coordinate the activity of different body systems.
- Defensive proteins: Protect the body from foreign pathogens.
- Contractile proteins: Affect muscle contraction.
- Storage proteins: Provide nourishment in early development of the embryo and the seeding.
