Answer
The aberrant activation of inflammasomes, the NLRP3 inflammasome in particular, has been linked to a wide range of inflammatory disorders. Considering the contributing role of inflammasomes in inflammatory disorders, inflammasome inhibitors are being rapidly developed in laboratories to curb inflammasome activation and potentially prevent a wide range of human disorders including metabolic, neurodegenerative, cardiovascular, and autoinflammatory conditions. Special focus is being paid to using inflammasome inhibitors in cancer prevention and treatment.
