Yes, indocyanine green (ICG) is the only Near Infra-Red contrast agent that is FDA approved.
Indocyanine green dye was developed by Kodak research laboratories in 1955 for NIR photography. It was approved for clinical use by the FDA in 1959. ICG is now widely used in ocular angiography and hepatic function assessment.
