How does exocytosis affect the membrane?

Answer
The vesicle membrane is composed of the same components (e.g. lipids and membrane proteins) as the cell membrane. As these two fuses together during exocytosis, membrane components from the vesicle become incorporated into the cell membrane facilitating membrane growth and repair, and also counteracts the loss of these same materials during endocytosis.
