6-ROX [6-Carboxy-X-rhodamine] *CAS 194785-18-7*
6-ROX is the other purified single isomer of 5(6)-ROX. It is preferred for some complicated biological applications where reproducibility is more critical than material cost since the minor positional difference between 5-ROX and 6-ROX might significantly affect some biological properties of the underlying conjugates. 6-ROX is predominantly used to label nucleotides and for DNA sequencing. Currently AAT Bioquest is using a proprietary process to synthesize isomer-free 6-ROX without the conventional chromatographic purification. Cautions must be exercised to prevent the deterioration during storage.
