5-ROX [5-Carboxy-X-rhodamine] *CAS 216699-35-3*

5-ROX is the purified single isomer of 5(6)-ROX. It is preferred for some complicated biological applications where reproducibility is more critical than material cost since the minor positional difference between 5-ROX and 6-ROX might significantly affect some biological properties of the underlying conjugates. 5-ROX is predominantly used to label peptides and proteins. Currently AAT Bioquest is using a proprietary process to synthesize isomer-free 5-ROX without the conventional chromatographic purification. Cautions must be exercised to prevent the deterioration during storage.
